About the position

The Lead Custodian/Custodial Supervisor at Perry Technical Institute is responsible for overseeing custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of facilities. This full-time position involves both administrative and custodial duties, including hiring, training, and supervising staff, managing vendor services, and performing custodial tasks. The role requires a professional, customer-focused individual who can work effectively in a diverse environment and handle various responsibilities efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise custodial staff and student workers to ensure quality custodial services.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate custodial staff performance.
  • Manage custodial staff schedules, time off requests, and timecards.
  • Perform custodial duties daily and as needed.
  • Coordinate and maintain custodial equipment inventory database.
  • Process incoming facilities requests using FMX.
  • Assist with event setup and cleanup on campus.
  • Manage vendor contracts and services, negotiating purchases as necessary.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings to inform staff of events and safety topics.
  • Develop institutional recycling plans and goals to minimize waste.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of assignment-related experience or equivalent education and training.
  • Documented experience supervising a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with vendors and managing procurement services.
  • Experience in a school or higher education setting.
  • Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP) certified.
