About the position
The Lead Custodian/Custodial Supervisor at Perry Technical Institute is responsible for overseeing custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of facilities. This full-time position involves both administrative and custodial duties, including hiring, training, and supervising staff, managing vendor services, and performing custodial tasks. The role requires a professional, customer-focused individual who can work effectively in a diverse environment and handle various responsibilities efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Supervise custodial staff and student workers to ensure quality custodial services.
- Hire, train, and evaluate custodial staff performance.
- Manage custodial staff schedules, time off requests, and timecards.
- Perform custodial duties daily and as needed.
- Coordinate and maintain custodial equipment inventory database.
- Process incoming facilities requests using FMX.
- Assist with event setup and cleanup on campus.
- Manage vendor contracts and services, negotiating purchases as necessary.
- Conduct weekly team meetings to inform staff of events and safety topics.
- Develop institutional recycling plans and goals to minimize waste.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of assignment-related experience or equivalent education and training.
- Documented experience supervising a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with vendors and managing procurement services.
- Experience in a school or higher education setting.
- Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP) certified.
