About the position

The Lead, Customer Service position at SpartanNash is responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service in the store's front-end operations. This role involves supervising and directing front-end activities in the absence of the Customer Service Manager, ensuring that operations contribute to the store's financial success. The position requires a focus on customer experience and operational excellence, with responsibilities that include training staff, managing transactions, and maintaining a clean and well-stocked department.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform all transactions including cash, checks, debit/credit/EBT cards, and refunds.
  • Ensure return-to-stock items are handled promptly, especially perishables.
  • Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
  • Manage selection, scheduling, and supervision of staff to meet departmental productivity levels.
  • Handle spoiled/damaged products according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
  • Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines and Food Safety expectations.
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Proficient in computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping skills.
  • Ability to interpret/analyze financials and develop/manage budgets.
  • Detail-oriented with suggestive selling knowledge.
