About the position

The Lead Customer Service role at SpartanNash is responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service in the store's front-end operations. This position supervises and directs all front-end activities in the absence of the Customer Service Manager, ensuring that operations contribute to the store's financial success. The role includes performing transactions, training staff, managing departmental productivity, and maintaining a clean and well-stocked department.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform all transactions including cash, checks, debit/credit/EBT cards, and refunds.
  • Ensure prompt handling of return-to-stock items, especially perishables.
  • Maintain knowledge of product locations and advertised items in the store.
  • Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
  • Manage selection, scheduling, and supervision of staff to meet productivity levels.
  • Handle spoiled/damaged products according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
  • Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines, Food Safety, and Cleaning Expectations.
  • Adhere to Guest Experience Guidelines.
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Proficient in computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping skills.
  • Ability to interpret/analyze financials and manage budgets.
  • Skills in delegating, directing, and implementing tasks.
  • Knowledge of suggestive selling and products.
  • Detail-oriented.
