About the position

The Lead Customer Service position at SpartanNash is responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service in the store's front-end operations. This role involves supervising and directing front-end activities in the absence of the Customer Service Manager, ensuring that operations contribute to the store's financial success. The position requires accurate transaction handling, training staff, and managing departmental productivity while adhering to safety and food handling guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform all transactions including cash, checks, debit/credit/EBT cards, and refunds.
  • Ensure prompt handling of return-to-stock items, especially perishables.
  • Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
  • Manage selection, scheduling, and supervision of staff to meet departmental productivity levels.
  • Handle spoiled/damaged products according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
  • Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines and Food Safety expectations.
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Proficient in computer skills including email and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping skills.
  • Ability to interpret/analyze financials and manage budgets.
  • Detail-oriented with suggestive selling skills.
