About the position

The Lead Data Architect at American National is responsible for managing the organization's data throughout its lifecycle, including data model design, database development standards, data warehouse, Lakehouse, data analytics, data governance, quality, and security. This role involves modernizing existing data systems, defining data standards, and collaborating with IT and business teams to design and review data architectures that align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data strategy, guiding principles, and vision aligned with business goals.
• Develop a comprehensive roadmap for implementing data strategy and practices.
• Manage the full lifecycle of data, including data model design and data governance.
• Define and implement data standards and best practices for data quality.
• Design and manage data lake solutions for structured and unstructured data.
• Develop strategies and tools for business stakeholders to access data efficiently.
• Ensure data security and compliance with regulations.
• Implement data stewardship principles for data accuracy and availability.
• Collaborate with security teams to develop a data classification strategy.
• Develop and implement data governance policies with business and IT stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture.
• Proven experience with data lake technologies and modern warehousing.
• Strong knowledge of analytics, business intelligence, and AI platforms.
• Understanding of cloud computing and data integration in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Strong experience with DB2, SQL Server, PowerBI, Cognos, and data lake technologies (e.g., MS Fabric, SnowFlake, Databricks).
• Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional certifications like CDMP are advantageous.
