About the position

The Lead Data Architect at Humana plays a crucial role in shaping the data landscape of the organization. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including data design, database architecture, and the creation of metadata and repositories. The Lead Data Architect is tasked with addressing complex problems that vary in scope and difficulty, often requiring innovative solutions. This role is pivotal in translating the business goals and strategies of the Service business into actionable data products, ensuring that the data architecture aligns with the overall business objectives. In this capacity, the Lead Data Architect collaborates closely with various teams, including Product, Data Science, Reporting, and IT, to ensure that the quality of product strategy inputs and business requirements is maintained. This individual is responsible for providing insights and conducting ad hoc analytics to support projects and change initiatives. As the primary owner of solutions across the Enterprise Operations Environment (EOE), the Lead Data Architect influences and drives data initiatives, evaluating the reusability of existing data for different analyses. This role also involves advising executives on developing functional strategies that are often segment-specific, requiring a high level of independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues. The Lead Data Architect operates with minimal supervision, utilizing independent judgment to analyze various factors and determine the best course of action. This position is not only about technical expertise but also about a passion for improving consumer experiences and contributing to an organization that prioritizes health and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data architecture solutions that align with business goals.
  • Translate business strategies into data products and ensure quality of product strategy inputs.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Reporting, and IT teams to align data initiatives with business objectives.
  • Provide insights and ad hoc analytics to support projects and change initiatives.
  • Evaluate the reusability of current data for separate analyses and advise on functional strategies.
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • SAFe Agile certification.
  • Minimum 8 years of data analytics experience.
  • Experience in using statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform complex data into analytic solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in working on diverse problems of varying complexity.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in insurance.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to create reports, projections, and presentations to support business needs.
  • Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience in large Enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with data visualization solutions such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Azure, and Event Driven Architecture.
