About the position

The Lead Data Engineer for Machine Learning Operations at Travelers will spearhead MLOps initiatives within Business Insurance Analytics and Research, focusing on enhancing model lifecycles through automation and reusable components. This role encompasses both traditional machine learning deployments and advanced AI processes, requiring continuous evaluation of capabilities in a rapidly evolving field. The position also involves providing expertise in testing approaches for technological upgrades and supporting the broader analytics community.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporate data quality assurance processes into ML Ops.
  • Define and build ML Ops frameworks for data solutions applicable to multiple projects.
  • Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security, and data quality.
  • Collaborate and build consensus with leadership and diverse stakeholders in project planning and prioritization.
  • Define standards and frameworks for testing data movement, transformation code, and data components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Fifteen years of related experience in data engineering or equivalent roles.
  • Expert knowledge of tools, techniques, and manipulation including cloud platforms and programming languages.
  • Excellent delivery skills with the ability to assess software design strategies and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated track record of domain expertise and ability to improve company capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to create robust architecture against single points of failure.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technology concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills to engage with other leaders and improve the engineering organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced artificial intelligence processes such as imagery, NLP, and LLMs.
  • Familiarity with performance-based cash incentive awards.
