About the position

The position involves constructing data pipelines and tools that facilitate trusted access to data, enabling effective data-driven decisions within the enterprise. The role requires strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of business context to engineer reliable data and analytics solutions. Responsibilities include designing, building, and deploying data solutions that support business intelligence, AI, and ML applications, while ensuring execution excellence through technical leadership and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex data solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the functional area and educate consumers on data solutions.
  • Build and operationalize complex, highly trusted, and utilized data solutions.
  • Develop unit, functional, integrated, and regression tests to ensure quality.
  • Design and develop code, scripts, and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data integrated from multiple sources.
  • Develop product deliverable documentation.
  • Collaborate with agile team members to meet deadlines.
  • Incorporate core architectural, data management, governance, security, and quality practices and standards.
  • Mentor, develop, and grow talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field; OR equivalent training with data technology, processes, or solutions.
  • 4 years of data engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate communication skills.
  • Intermediate relationship building skills.
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of influence and change management.
  • Basic strategy development skills.
  • Advanced execution excellence skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational database systems (Oracle or SQL).
  • Intermediate knowledge of ETL tools and processes.
  • Basic familiarity with advanced statistical concepts.
  • Strong working knowledge of DevOps fundamentals (build, release, test, monitor).
  • Proficient knowledge of BI/Dashboards tools such as PowerBI.
  • Intermediate knowledge of R, Python, and SSRS preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Big Data platforms such as Hadoop and DataBricks preferred.
  • Familiarity or exposure to Java and .Net preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Cloud Data Platforms such as Snowflake preferred.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Agile experience preferred.

  • Experience working with data in an insurance environment.
