About the position

As a Lead Engineer on Data Strategy at Northwestern Mutual, you will play a crucial role in designing system solutions, implementing new features, and resolving complex incidents. This position involves consultation with application support and development staff, as well as the opportunity to work with various application technologies. You will be responsible for making build decisions and designing infrastructure for complex systems to achieve strategic objectives in service management, risk management, and project delivery. The role requires a strategic thinker who can manage diverse tasks and foster collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and refine processes, procedures, and systems to optimize effectiveness and integrity.
  • Participate in security audits by assisting investigations, evaluating evidence, and developing responses and action plans.
  • Define architectural roadmaps for technology based on business needs and industry trends.
  • Mentor and train other administrators, manage task assignments, review workload, and provide input to the management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 6+ years experience in Data Movement technologies like Informatica, Qlik, AWS DMS, GLUE systems Administration or Application Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience leading complex solutions and teams.
  • 6+ years experience with networking and Linux-based platforms.
  • 6+ years experience with modern programming and scripting languages (Python, Go, JavaScript).
  • 6+ years experience in performance tuning and operations of application stacks, OSs, DBs, etc.
  • 3+ years experience with AWS Cloud Services and containerized applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS or Docker or Kubernetes Certification Preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in services related to data lakes.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience working with DevOps, CI/CD, GitOps, Agile methodologies.
