About the position

The Lead Data Quality Analyst for Supply Chain at 84.51 plays a pivotal role in supporting end-to-end supply chain workstreams, with a particular emphasis on enhancing supply chain and inventory data. This position is designed for individuals who possess a strong business acumen in the Supply Chain and Inventory Replenishment industry. Candidates with familiarity with 84.51 and Kroger's Supply Chain and Operations data assets will find themselves at an advantage. The role is integral to the SCORe (Supply Chain, Operations, and Replenishment) team, focusing on the Inventory Replenishment, Transportation, and warehouse domains. The Lead Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for integrating new data, diagnosing data issues, and improving data quality across these critical areas. As a Lead Data Quality Analyst, you will join a collaborative technical community that includes analysts, data scientists, product owners, program leads, and software engineers. Your expertise in data will empower you to enable others to understand and utilize data effectively to address business challenges. The role demands strong critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, which are essential for success in this position. You will be expected to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Data Owner, managing complex data sources and ensuring that the data is accurate, reliable, and usable for various stakeholders. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also play a key role in data governance, partnering with Kroger, third-party vendors, and internal teams to ensure that data ingestion and changes are managed effectively. You will lead initiatives to establish best practices in data governance and documentation, ensuring that all data assets are well-defined and accessible to those who need them. This position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, allowing for both remote and onsite work, and is based in either Cincinnati, OH or Chicago, IL, with relocation assistance available if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Data Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Data Owner for large, complex data sources.
  • Deeply understand and communicate the business context and products that utilize the data.
  • Manage relationships with source stakeholders and define multiple data feeds to data partners.
  • Advise and resolve data issues and discrepancies for internal teams.
  • Coach and mentor junior data analysts within and outside of the domain.
  • Lead collaboration on data discovery for new and existing data, including data queries and analysis.
  • Validate and identify new use cases for existing data.
  • Document data usage, ownership, and support, including data mapping and quality checks.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners/Managers to articulate data needs in Jira.
  • Partner with Kroger and third-party governance on data ingestion and quality assurance.
  • Establish best practices in data governance for the data domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data management, data architecture, or data governance.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners across data, data science, product, and engineering.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, PySpark, BigQuery, or similar technologies.
  • Technical understanding of data flow diagrams and ability to read/write code and scripts.
  • Familiarity with Hadoop, Github, Jira, Cloud (Azure), Oracle, Snowflake, and Confluence.
  • Ability to create high-level flow diagrams for cross-functional discussions.
  • Proactive problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical language.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching junior talent.
