About the position

The Lead Data & Reporting Analyst at Magellan Health is responsible for facilitating reporting efforts and leading analytics, decision support, and research functions within the department. This role requires extensive experience with AWS Amazon Redshift and involves generating reports, managing large-scale data sets, and ensuring data accuracy and quality. The analyst will also mentor peers, coordinate projects, and enhance overall reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates reporting efforts using SQL and related data query tools to generate reports from Amazon Redshift.
  • Leads analytics, decision support, and research functions for the assigned department.
  • Creates, analyzes, and distributes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Extracts, prepares, analyzes, validates, and presents data for standard and ad hoc reporting.
  • Interprets and analyzes data, making recommendations regarding data accuracy and collection processes.
  • Develops and implements plans to enhance reporting needs and capabilities.
  • Coordinates application enhancements with the IT department to promote data quality.
  • Mentors peers and co-workers as appropriate.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates projects and report development efforts.
  • Provides direction for tracking and analyzing audit findings.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of experience performing statistical analysis and using statistical packages.
  • Bachelor's degree required; may consider additional relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in statistics, research, or health services related fields with a focus on reporting and analytics.
  • Strong writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, process improvement, time management, and project management skills.
  • Expertise in MS Excel and relational databases such as MS Access and MS SQL.
  • Ability to use reporting software such as Actuate, Cognos, Crystal Reports, SAS, or others.
  • Ability to query the company's data warehouse in response to data requests.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
