About the position

Discover is seeking a Lead Data Science Analyst who will play a pivotal role in executing analytical initiatives that solve business problems through advanced analytics techniques. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with management and cross-functional partners to understand business needs and deliver actionable insights. The Lead Data Science Analyst will leverage their expertise in segmentation, optimization, and machine learning to create reports and dashboards that monitor performance metrics and provide valuable insights to the organization. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced analytics projects, operating as a subject matter expert in statistical analysis, experimental design, and financial impact analysis. The analyst will also manage multiple priorities, communicate business performance, and project progress to management and business partners. Additionally, the role involves establishing effective performance tracking, identifying improvement opportunities, and proposing tests to enhance strategies and optimize outcomes. The successful candidate will develop and automate reports, build and prototype dashboards, and ensure the accuracy of analytical work products. Continuous improvement of technical and leadership skills through training and development is also a key aspect of this position. Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of advanced analytics including customer segmentation, optimization, prescriptive analytics and machine learning algorithms to solve business problems.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to understand their business needs and formulates end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, and presentations.
  • Delivers effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Establishes and maintains effective performance tracking; identifies improvement opportunities, proposes, designs, and implements tests to drive strategy enhancement and optimization.
  • Manages multiple priorities and communicates business performance and project progress to management and business partners.
  • Develops and automates reports, iteratively builds and prototypes dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
  • Consistently follows standard work processes and documentation requirements, recommending improvements to increase efficiency while maintaining quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Analytics, Engineering, Statistics.
  • 4+ years of experience in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Marketing Analytics, Optimization, Operations Analytics, Modeling/Data Science or related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics.
  • 4+ years of experience in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Marketing Analytics, Optimization, Operations Analytics, Modeling/Data Science or related field.
