About the position

As a Lead Data Scientist at IDEXX Laboratories, you will guide a team of computer vision data scientists in developing innovative veterinary clinical instrument platforms. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on contributions, requiring collaboration with clinical, technical, and business experts to deliver cutting-edge embedded computer vision solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3-4 computer vision data scientists, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize computer vision initiatives.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the team's capabilities in computer vision and deep learning.
• Drive the research, development, and implementation of advanced computer vision algorithms.
• Contribute hands-on to projects, including coding and model development.
• Establish best practices and standards for computer vision projects.
• Stay updated on advancements in computer vision and machine learning.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading teams of data scientists focused on computer vision.
• Proficiency in Python programming and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
• Expertise in designing, training, and deploying convolutional neural networks (CNNs).
• Experience developing machine learning solutions for embedded devices and NVIDIA GPUs.
• Track record of delivering vision projects from ideation to deployment.
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, for data processing and deployment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and passion for complex technical challenges.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with microscopy, digital cytology, or digital pathology.
• Experience using Databricks for scalable data engineering and machine learning workflows.
