About the position

The Lead Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer role is focused on leveraging advanced data science and machine learning techniques to drive insights and solutions within the organization. This position requires a strong background in software engineering and machine learning, with a particular emphasis on natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLMs). The role involves collaboration with business stakeholders and requires both independent and team-oriented work to achieve project goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, data science, or artificial intelligence.
• Strong proficiency in Python/Pyspark.
• Experience following software best practices in team settings, including version control (Git), CI/CD, documentation, & unit testing.
• Experience using common NLP and/or ML Python frameworks, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers/Hugging Face, and NumPy.
• Strong background and experience in natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning.
• Hands-on experience with LLM skills including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, LLMOps, function-calling, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) strongly preferred.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure or similar cloud computing ecosystem preferred.
• Experience with DevOps/MLOps/LLMOps strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to work productively with business stakeholders.
