About the position

Cox Communications is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join their Data Science team, focusing on advanced analytics for Cox Business. This role involves designing and implementing machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing applications, while also managing third-party data scientists. The Lead Data Scientist will work on developing robust data pipelines, conducting statistical analyses, and collaborating with team members to enhance data processing efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, prototype, and deploy ML, DL, AI, and NLP applications to extract value from data assets.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines to support ML/AI workflows.
  • Perform end-to-end statistical analyses from problem definition to insight generation.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to meet specific business needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to address complex challenges and improve data flow efficiency.
  • Leverage insights from past projects to support decision making.
  • Assist in the development of industry whitepapers and technical publications.
  • Guide junior team members and support contractors during the ML modeling process.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities in data processing and ML workflows.
  • Develop frameworks and apply best practices to mature analytics solutions from proof of concept to production.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance data infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related discipline with 6 years of experience, or a master's degree with 4 years, or a Ph.D. with 1 year, or 18 years of experience in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in advanced analytics roles, including ML, AI, NLP, and predictive analytics.
  • Strong programming skills with 5+ years of experience in data/analytic software and languages such as Spark, R, Python, Scala, Java, SQL, and Tableau.
  • Expertise in machine learning and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Keras, and Pytorch.
  • Extensive knowledge in cloud computing, Jira, GitHub, and production processes in cloud environments.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining ML/AI solutions and managing end-to-end data pipelines using AWS tools.
  • Experience in designing end-to-end ML pipelines including data ingestion and model deployment.
  • Experience with Hadoop and big data clusters for data handling and ETL optimization.
  • Experience in implementing MLOps practices for model deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex analytics into actionable insights.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of programming experience in Python, PySpark, and SQL for scalable data processing.
  • Practical experience in Generative AI techniques applied to transaction reduction and predictive analytics.
  • Experience in data visualization using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
