About the position

CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Database Administrator to join their global IT team. This role is crucial for supporting mission-critical database systems, integrations, applications, and related infrastructure. The Lead Database Administrator will manage incidents, ensure data integrity and security, and collaborate with various IT teams to design and implement applications and processes. The position requires a strong focus on maintaining high system performance and availability, as well as providing technical expertise for application upgrades and migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Support mission-critical database systems and related infrastructure.
  • Manage incidents by coordinating resources and resolving root causes.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and external vendors to design and implement applications.
  • Enforce data integrity, security, and privacy through audits and patch applications.
  • Research, install, and configure database systems and services.
  • Monitor system health and performance for high availability.
  • Provide technical expertise for application upgrades and migrations.
  • Analyze and remediate complex issues with permanent solutions.
  • Implement backups and recommend recovery models for databases and applications.
  • Develop and enhance scripts for automation and reporting.
  • Create and maintain operations and deployment documentation.
  • Plan and execute production deployments and review current processes for improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 8 years of related experience, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including Replication and Clustering.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL Database and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL Programming and Linux OS Administration.
  • Strong experience with Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services Redshift and PostgreSQL.
  • Basic experience with third-party applications and network security.
