About the position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Lead Database Administrator (Lead DBA) to join the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. The Lead DBA will manage a team of 16 Oracle DBAs, providing operational support for various database systems, including the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) and others. This role involves overseeing database operations, ensuring compliance with standards, and mentoring team members while supporting the modernization of legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support Tier II Operations by leading the creation of standards and procedures related to database operational support.
  • Apply solid DBA skills on Oracle RAC and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Investigate and resolve complex system requirements and problems in support of ticket resolutions using advanced methods and theories.
  • Provide guidance to the Tier II DBAs in all areas, including database issues and ticket management.
  • Prepare and maintain SOPs, ensuring the information is accurate and current.
  • Coordinate team members' tasking, including on-call and project schedules; monitor team members' performance and mentor them to achieve professional goals.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET government security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret government security clearance.
  • Minimum 5 years of strong Oracle 11g or 12c DBA experience with specific knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, and/or Security.
  • Experience with Apache, Weblogic, and PHP administration skills for managing the Database Driven Application Web Portal in production.
  • Strong communication skills and organizational skills to prioritize work and lead complex projects.
  • Good leadership skills to guide and mentor less experienced personnel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public).
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS upgrade from 11g/12c to 19c and Containerization.
  • Previous experience on Oracle Engineered Systems like Exadata and Sun Super Cluster.
