About the position

The Lead Database Administrator is responsible for leading, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring complex databases. This role involves planning and executing upgrades or installations of new components, mentoring less experienced team members, and ensuring optimal database performance. The position requires collaboration with application staff and business areas to support database implementations and establish best practices for high availability.

Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and review physical models from logical models for complex data structures and databases.
  • Provide leadership support for application staff regarding complex database implementations.
  • Establish automated monitoring mechanisms for database availability.
  • Lead the establishment of best practices for database and application high availability.
  • Provide application support and resolve complex problems related to DBMS technology.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues impacting database availability.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support for database refreshes and technology upgrades.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards and documentation.
  • Lead technology training for application developers.
  • Participate in intra and inter-departmental project initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Information Technology.
  • Vendor DBA Certifications for relevant DBMS (preferred).
  • Health insurance business knowledge (preferred).
