About the position

The Lead Database Architect will provide oversight for multiple technical and functional database administrators. This role involves designing databases, warehouses, sharing, integration, and security based on both state and federal requirements. The architect will participate in planning business intelligence and analytics systems, ensuring that data models, data taxonomy, and data standards are developed and maintained effectively. Additionally, the architect will maintain data health and performance across the supported enterprise and conduct research into products, tools, processes, and procedures to identify innovations that can improve the quality and performance of data.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight for project technical and functional DBAs.
  • Leads large scale projects.
  • Develops and maintains database models and schemas.
  • Ensures data integrity, security, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborates with development teams to meet application data needs.
  • Manages monitoring and troubleshooting of database issues.
  • Maintains physical integrity of all production databases.
  • Maintains data health and performance of all production databases.
  • Manages day-to-day delivery of results to ensure meeting or exceeding operational contractual and service level commitment obligations to clients.
  • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of database principles and practices.
  • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of government data security requirements (HIPAA, NIST, CJIS, etc.).
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of database definition, design, and configuration.
  • Utilizes extensive design leadership experiences with non-traditional database systems.
  • Supports the design, development and maintenance of Business Intelligence and Analytics applications.
  • Researches products, tools, processes, and principles to introduce innovative solutions for improving data quality and performance.
  • Understands how to work with State and Federal Health and Human Services Data.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of state level health and human services projects experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of database administration experience, including database definition, design, configuration, database backups, and disaster recovery
  • Undergraduate degree in IT or related field
