About the position

The Lead Databricks Administrator with Unity will play a crucial role in managing and administering the Databricks platform within our organization. This position is primarily focused on providing problem resolution for referred incidents, ensuring that our Databricks environment operates smoothly and efficiently. The role is structured to involve approximately 20% project work and 80% incident management, emphasizing the importance of support for our Databricks platform and its associated tools. The team is tasked with maintaining the Databricks platform, enabling new tools to ensure data governance, adhering to security standards, and scaling our solutions effectively. In this role, the Lead Databricks Administrator will investigate and analyze new technical possibilities, tools, and techniques that can reduce complexity and enhance the delivery process. This includes creating better technical solutions that increase business value. The administrator will be responsible for meeting Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets and will work collaboratively with the team to ensure that all targets are met. Additionally, the role requires careful planning and approval of all changes to production systems in accordance with the Change Management process. The Lead Databricks Administrator will also take ownership of 2-3 technologies, which includes maintaining, upgrading, training, inspiring, and mentoring team members. A significant part of the role involves working closely with internal customers to resolve Databricks-related issues, diagnosing standard deployments, and investigating issues to determine their root causes. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our Databricks platform, making it a key player in our data management strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide problem resolution for referred incidents related to the Databricks platform.
  • Administer and manage the internally developed Databricks platform.
  • Engage in project work and incident management, focusing 20% on projects and 80% on incidents.
  • Investigate and analyze new technical possibilities, tools, and techniques to enhance delivery processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets and collaborate with the team to meet targets.
  • Plan and approve all changes to Production systems in accordance with the Change Management process.
  • Take complete ownership of 2-3 technologies, including maintenance, upgrades, training, and mentoring.
  • Work with internal customers to resolve Databricks issues and provide support.
  • Diagnose standard deployments and investigate issues to determine root causes.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with Databricks.
  • 6 months of experience with Unity.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services.
