About the position

The Lead Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in the clinical team, supporting dentists and specialty clinicians in providing high-quality dental care. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including patient interaction, assisting with dental procedures, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment in the dental office. The Lead Dental Assistant is also responsible for managing patient records and inventory, contributing to the overall efficiency of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during examinations, cleanings, and other dental procedures.
• Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Follow sterilization procedures to clean and disinfect instruments and work areas, ensuring a safe and sterile environment.
• Set up and prepare dental operatory with necessary instruments, materials, and equipment for specific procedures.
• Educate patients about proper oral hygiene, provide pre- and post-operative care instructions, and ensure they are comfortable throughout treatment.
• Assist with various procedures, such as placing fillings, taking impressions, performing soft tissue management, and applying sealants or fluoride treatments.
• Accurately update and maintain patient charts and records, ensuring all treatment information is properly documented.
• Monitor and manage dental supplies, ensuring that the office is well-stocked with necessary materials and equipment.
• Help manage patient flow by ensuring that appointments are on schedule, and patients are properly prepared for their procedures.
• Assist with patient scheduling, confirming appointments, and managing patient intake forms.

Requirements

• State of Texas Dental Assistant license
• CPR Certification
• X-Ray license
• Use of electronic dental records
