About the position

The Lead Developer Java position is a critical role within the Digital Platform Services team, focusing on the design and development of cloud-native applications. This position requires a strong background in Java and Spring Cloud, as well as experience with Microsoft Azure. The Lead Developer will be responsible for building microservices and supporting development accelerators, ensuring that all applications comply with enterprise architecture standards. This role is not focused on infrastructure but rather on development, making it essential for candidates to have a solid understanding of cloud-native development practices. In this role, the Lead Developer will participate in Scrum activities, which include planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. The candidate will also engage in various DevSecOps activities, which are crucial for maintaining security and compliance throughout the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing Spring Boot-based microservices and other integrations on Azure, as well as experience in the financial industry, which is a key requirement for this position. The Lead Developer will work onsite three days a week, with anchor days at the Wabash building in Chicago on Tuesdays and Fridays, and one anchor day at the Naperville, IL location on Thursdays. The work hours are typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, with normal hours being 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST. This position is a contract role with a duration of 6+ months, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to contribute to significant projects in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Digital Platform Services team in the design and development of cloud-native applications using Java and Spring Cloud.
  • Participate in Scrum activities to ensure effective project management and collaboration.
  • Perform various DevSecOps activities to maintain security and compliance in the development process.
  • Develop Spring Boot-based microservices and other integrations on Microsoft Azure.
  • Build and support Development Accelerators that integrate application development best practices and patterns by collaborating with the developer community.
  • Ensure that the applications delivered align with Enterprise Architecture standards and patterns, while also meeting non-functional requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in developing cloud-native applications.
  • Experience in Private Cloud (PCF) or Public Cloud (Azure).
  • DevSecOps experience.
