About the position

The Lead Developer role at Toyota involves leading the design and implementation of full-stack applications and APIs, with a focus on cloud-native technologies and microservices architecture. This position emphasizes hands-on coding, technical leadership, and collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver scalable and maintainable software solutions. It is a temporary, hybrid assignment based in Plano, TX, with a duration of 12 months and potential for extension.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of full-stack applications with a focus on event-driven microservices.
  • Implement simple, readable, and well-designed software components adhering to best coding practices.
  • Drive the use of container technologies and orchestrate services on AWS infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with solutions architects, product owners, and domain experts to create actionable technical specifications.
  • Independently troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation supporting the development process.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in full-stack development, especially in API development and integration.
  • Proven experience in hands-on coding with one or more languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, or C#.
  • Expertise in developing and deploying applications using microservices architecture and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Good understanding of AWS services, including EKS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Developer.
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
