About the position

The Lead Developer position at TransUnion in Chicago, IL, involves leading a team in the end-to-end software architecture, development, and implementation of software applications. The role focuses on developing migration strategies from on-premise systems to cloud environments, particularly utilizing AWS. The Lead Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy and maintain ETL loads, implement data integration solutions, and convert business requirements into technical specifications. Additionally, mentoring junior engineers is a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in software architecture, development, and implementation of applications.
  • Develop migration strategies from on-premise to cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy and maintain ETL loads on AWS.
  • Lead the deployment and implementation of analytics environments in both on-premise and cloud settings.
  • Implement data integration solutions on cloud platforms.
  • Convert business requirements into technical requirements for software applications.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in Software Development.
  • Experience with AbInitio (GDE, PSETS, MP, PDL, Conduct IT).
  • Proficiency in big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, MapR, Spark, Pyspark).
  • Experience in relational and nonrelational database design, query optimization, and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with MySQL, Oracle, Teradata, Postgre SQL.
  • Experience in end-to-end architecture and data integration for on-premise and cloud using AWS services (Glue, Eventbridge, Lambda, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Terraform, Dremio, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, Python, Control M, autosys, and SQL.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum Methodology and system engineering including DevOps and CI/CD environments.
