About the position

As a Lead DevOps Engineer at Calibrate, you will be at the forefront of our DevOps team, spearheading strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing and evolving our AWS infrastructure. This pivotal role requires you to oversee the implementation of best practices while ensuring the seamless operation of our cloud environments. Your strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and deep understanding of AWS and DevOps principles will be essential in driving the success of our infrastructure operations. In this role, you will set clear goals for your team, provide guidance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive DevOps strategy that aligns with our business objectives, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and efficiency. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure AWS architectures, as well as overseeing the evolution of our infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the business. You will champion the automation of infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and operations using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CLI. Additionally, you will architect and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure streamlined and efficient software delivery processes, implementing and managing tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline. Your role will also involve implementing comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions, analyzing performance metrics, and optimizing system performance and reliability. As a leader, you will enforce security best practices across our AWS environments, conduct regular security audits, and manage compliance requirements. You will oversee incident response and troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex infrastructure issues and minimize downtime. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including development, IT, and product management, will be key to supporting their needs and ensuring alignment with infrastructure goals. Furthermore, you will ensure thorough and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure, processes, and best practices, while staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and AWS updates to continuously enhance our infrastructure and operational practices.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in DevOps or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position managing DevOps teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional) preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS) and extensive hands-on experience with AWS tools and best practices.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • In-depth experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, ELK Stack, or Prometheus.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and experience implementing security controls in cloud environments.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing teams, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic approach to troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes or Docker.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Knowledge of database management and optimization techniques.
