About the position

The Lead DevOps Engineer at TEKsystems is responsible for leading the DevOps team to ensure efficient delivery of services, designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with various teams to automate processes. This role requires strong expertise in Azure DevOps and containerization technologies, along with a solid understanding of infrastructure as code and cloud platforms. The position also involves mentoring team members, optimizing system performance, and maintaining documentation for provisioning services.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead engineer with the DevOps team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to automate and streamline processes.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Mentor and train other team members on DevOps best practices and tools.
  • Document system configurations and build standards for all provisioning services, automation and environment lifecycle management.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend the selection of cloud-related tools and emerging technologies for business use cases based on requirements and architecture standards.
  • Act as subject matter expert and provide technical advice when required to other support teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with business partners, teammates and vendors to design, implement and maintain applications, services, systems and technologies to satisfy company needs.
  • Plan and coordinate own work to meet commitments and quality expectations.
  • Communicate with stakeholders as required: keeping them informed of project progress, impending changes, and agreed upon outages.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve DevOps processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, cloud computing, and DevOps practices preferably within a large company or enterprise.
  • Strong expertise in Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repositories, and artifacts.
  • In-depth experience designing, implementing, upgrading and managing DevOps environments on both cloud and on-premises hosting models.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics).
  • Experienced with Agile framework for task management and delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a 24X7 enterprise production support environment required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good system and storage resource utilization forecasting and capacity planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of system hardening, security and access control principles, techniques and tools.
