About the position

A Lead Direct Support Professional is responsible for the coordination of services to the individuals served, including finance, medical, recreation, program services, family contact/involvement, education, and household management. A Lead provides direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the program director with the coordination of services to the individuals served, including finance, medical, recreation, program services, family contact/involvement, education, and household management.
  • Assist the program director in maintaining consistency in program implementation, individual care, and communication with staff and interdisciplinary team members, including the day or residential program.
  • Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
  • Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene and more.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
  • Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events.
  • Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
  • Document progress, milestones, and action steps.
