About the position

The Lead Donation Associate is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Attended Donation Center, including receiving, sorting, and processing donated goods. This role emphasizes excellent customer service, ensuring donor needs are met, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The position also involves supervising staff and coordinating business activities at the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, sorts, and processes donations continuously throughout each shift.
  • Greets all donors and provides excellent customer service by responding promptly to questions and needs.
  • Uses wheeled carts, pallet jacks, or forklifts safely to move and load donated goods.
  • Inspects, organizes, and prepares items for sale or transfer to other locations.
  • Builds and processes gaylords on pallets for delivery.
  • Cleans, organizes, and maintains work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Promotes a positive team environment.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative and cooperative working relationships with coworkers.
  • Directs and coordinates business activities to include opening and closing of the facility.
  • Performs regular safety inspections inside and outside the building, reporting safety or security issues as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Iowa Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Supervising experience is a plus.
  • Ability to follow basic verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to adhere to safety measures and incident reporting to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work and travel to nearby stores.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and dependent adult and child abuse background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a retail or donation environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
