About the position
The Lead Driver CDL (B) at Republic Services is responsible for overseeing a team of drivers to ensure efficient route coverage and excellent customer service. This role involves safely operating a heavy truck for waste removal services, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and assisting in the training of new drivers. The Lead Driver plays a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency and adherence to company policies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a group of drivers to ensure timely servicing of routes and report any downtime or concerns to management.
- Assist in planning and executing re-routes to maximize efficiency.
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with company policy.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along designated routes and to disposal sites, following maps and service instructions.
- Interact courteously with customers and dispatchers to ensure professional service delivery.
- Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers according to departmental procedures.
- Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and clean up spills as necessary.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports (VCRs).
- Maintain productivity standards to ensure timely service to all customers.
- Participate in the Company's ReSOP program and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Three years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.
- One year in a lead role.
- Class A Commercial Driver's license.
- Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.
- Ability to adhere to company policies and promote safety standards.
