About the position

The Lead, EA Governance position at Liberty Utilities is a pivotal role designed for an experienced governance professional with a strong background in cloud computing. This role is essential for overseeing Liberty's cloud governance controls and ensuring compliance across both Liberty and managed service provider (MSP) environments. The successful candidate will chair the Cloud Center of Excellence, collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the accuracy and compliance of cloud governance controls, while also focusing on improvement planning and progress reporting. In this capacity, the Lead will be responsible for managing Liberty's compliance with cloud governance controls, which encompass critical areas such as cloud costs, architecture, security, availability, and performance. The role requires the development of action plans aimed at risk reduction, achieved through collaboration with architects, operational teams, and Cloud Service Partners. Additionally, the Lead will oversee quarterly cloud cost governance reporting, striving to improve governance processes to minimize cloud expenditures. The position also involves coordinating Liberty's Enterprise Architecture (EA) governance activities, including chairing the Architecture Review Board (ARB) meetings. The Lead will manage the agenda, action plans, and reporting for these meetings, ensuring that project teams are adequately prepared for ARB reviews and that key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcomes are effectively communicated. Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of Liberty's cloud governance controls through collaboration with cloud architects, cyber security team, and cloud operations teams.
  • Create and update cloud governance controls related to cloud costs, architecture, security, availability, and performance.
  • Report on alignment to cloud controls and risk reduction activities for both Liberty and Cloud Service Partners managed environments.
  • Develop action plans to reduce risks through collaboration with architects, operational teams, and Cloud Service Partners.
  • Lead quarterly cloud cost governance reporting and drive improvement of Cloud cost governance to reduce cloud costs.
  • Chair Cloud Center of Excellence meetings, managing agenda, action plans, and reporting.
  • Use governance controls to provide requirements to projects and identify necessary updates and expansions to governance controls.
  • Engage with stakeholders, business owners, and Cyber Security to share knowledge of cloud governance controls and practices.
  • Maintain accountability for cloud governance deliverables.
  • Chair Architecture Review Board meetings, managing agenda, action plans, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of cloud services (Azure/AWS/GCP, Azure preferred) and associated technologies.
  • Proficient and hands-on experience with governing compliance of Cloud Service Providers (managed service providers).
  • Proven experience in IT governance.
  • Familiarity and experience with relevant industry frameworks (e.g. NIST 800-53 and/or CSA CCM).
  • Project management or similar organizational and coordination skills will be beneficial.
  • Azure Fundamentals Certification or equivalent will be beneficial.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture concepts (e.g. TOGAF) will be beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and interviewing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and issues in a collaborative environment.
  • Team leadership skills, with the ability to act as a strategic advisor, guide, mentor, or manager of a team depending on circumstances.
