About the position

The Lead Electrical Controls / Automation Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting a greenfield factory startup for a major global corporation. This position requires a strong engineering background with project management experience, focusing on integrating various electrical and automation components into a high-quality system. The engineer will supervise vendor work, ensure compliance with company standards, and support all project phases from concept to successful startup.

Responsibilities

  • Review URS (User Requirement Specification) and make necessary Electrical and Automation recommendations based on Nestl standards.
  • Develop scope of work according to company guidelines and review the bids accordingly.
  • Develop necessary timeline and schedule to keep track of milestones, parts ordered, and vendor commitments.
  • Review/build electrical design using AutoCAD according to company standards.
  • Review/create electrical schematics along with necessary electrical calculations and SISTEMA documentation.
  • Review/build pneumatic designs needed for the projects.
  • Review/build control design and MCC designs with vendors and ensure Nestl standards are followed.
  • Review/create the BOM using the electrical and Pneumatic schematics and keep track of the materials delivery.
  • Review/build Process Control Descriptions (PCD) and Functional Design Specifications (FDS) for various equipment and machines as needed.
  • Review/Create PLC tagging using company document standards.
  • Review/Design PLC program in Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA where necessary and ensure programming standards are followed.
  • Create/review network architecture and communication exchange signals between PLCs.
  • Create checklist for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) according to company guidelines.
  • Review/build HMI screens using Wonderware software.
  • Create a simulation plan to review various functionalities of SCADA such as recipe management, product routes, and CIP routes.
  • Review and work with vendors to ensure the HMI screens and SCADA controls are intuitive and work with the operations team to achieve the same.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and develop action plans to facilitate E&A objectives for the factory.
  • Recommend and drive actions to build smart and cohesive systems for seamless integration with other systems.
  • Streamline engineering processes by creating Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
  • Provide support to process control and process monitoring equipment software design, commissioning, testing, and corrective action.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline (STEM).
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical or controls/automation or mechatronics engineering roles.
  • Capital project management experience.
  • Experience in SCADA and HMI programming.
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience programming and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks using Rockwell Studio 5000.
  • AutoCAD or similar tools proficiency.
  • Expertise in drafting electrical schematics with power and control systems.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Windows and all Microsoft Office products.
  • Trained in industry standards like OSHA and UL requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Wonderware (AVEVA) software is a plus.
