About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer role is a senior position responsible for overseeing complex electrical engineering projects. This role involves applying advanced engineering techniques, leading project teams, and interfacing with customers and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. The engineer will also mentor junior engineers and stay updated on emerging technologies to drive innovation within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Influence strategic planning for major technical projects or multiple projects of significant scope and complexity.
  • Provide external leadership and extensive customer and stakeholder interface.
  • Advise and consult as a technical expert to drive and implement short and long-term projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, schedules, and cost estimates; negotiate schedule changes and dates.
  • Lead, direct, and coordinate the work of major projects, ensuring objectives and technical specifications are met.
  • Drive technical advances and improvements in existing technologies.
  • Evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors.
  • Mentor and train engineers within the electrical engineering family on test processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP certification or its equivalent.
  • Experience in Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Background in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Track record of managing projects up to or exceeding $10M.
  • Experience collaborating with Federal Government clientele, contractors, and design professionals.
