About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer for Data Centers at Black & Veatch is responsible for leading the design and delivery of electrical engineering projects specifically for data centers. This role involves providing technical expertise, managing project deliverables, and ensuring compliance with client standards and engineering codes. The position promotes a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility between in-office and remote work, and focuses on collaboration within a team of engineers to meet the needs of clients in the data center industry.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a technical specialist or in a Project Lead role.
  • Lead the delivery of design-only, design-build, and construction-only projects in Electrical Engineering for Data Centers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Data Center design.
  • Provide technical guidance on client standards and expectations to engineering and technician staff.
  • Build business relationships with clients to understand their needs and drivers.
  • Coordinate with local electrical utilities on project technical needs.
  • Review supplier submittals.
  • Continuously learn and develop technical expertise in specialty area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
  • Previous experience within Data Centers and/or Data Center Facility Design.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design risk factors for redundancy and resiliency.
  • Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit/BIM.
  • Experience utilizing BIM 360, Navisworks, and Revit work sets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and managing complex families within Autodesk Revit.
  • Familiarity with Data Center tier rating systems.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
