About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer for Electric Vehicle Charging at Black & Veatch will oversee the electrical design for EV charging station projects, providing technical guidance and direction to engineering and technician staff. This role involves developing complex engineering deliverables, coordinating with design teams and local utilities, and conducting feasibility studies and electrical reliability analyses. The position is integral to advancing sustainable infrastructure and innovative solutions in the electric vehicle sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station projects.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering and technician staff.
• Develop complex engineering deliverables including installation drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with regional and global design teams.
• Engage with local electrical utilities on project technical needs.
• Conduct feasibility studies, energy optimization, power system coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.
• Inspect construction and resolve electrical construction issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer's license in MO, KS, or another US jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical design, planning, and construction services.
• Experience with EV charging preferred.
• Familiarity with NFPA-70: National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience in low and medium voltage power distribution design and equipment.
• Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software is a plus.
