About the position

Audubon, an EPC company based in Houston, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for Power Systems to join our team within an LNG facility. This role is critical as it involves overseeing the Power Island and Balance of Plant (BOP) interface coordination. The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for conducting system studies, ensuring compliance with project technical requirements, and maintaining the technical integrity of the engineering and design processes for the LNG facility. The position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with both EPC and Owner staff to monitor contractor performance and adherence to project specifications. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in LNG Power Island and BOP design, applying relevant US codes specific to LNG facilities. You will be tasked with calling for support from other engineering disciplines when multi-discipline technical issues arise, ensuring that all technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs) from contractors are addressed promptly. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining the technical integrity of the electrical engineering discipline, which encompasses a wide range of studies and designs such as Area Classifications, Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting Power System Studies, Protection Coordination Studies, and various other electrical system designs and calculations. Additionally, you will participate in key design reviews, ensuring that all design review processes are ready and that any changes are monitored against the baseline scope. This position is essential for ensuring that the engineering and design aspects of the LNG facility are executed with the highest standards of quality and safety, reflecting Audubon's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with EPC and Owner staff.
  • Monitor the Contractor's performance and compliance with project technical requirements.
  • Provide knowledge of LNG Power Island and BOP design and applicability of US codes specific to LNG facilities in the US.
  • Call for support from other engineering disciplines when multi-discipline technical issues arise.
  • Maintain technical integrity of the engineering & design for the electrical engineering discipline, including Area Classifications, Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting Power System Studies, Protection Coordination Study, AC and DC Arc Flash Study, Protection Setting Files, Grounding Study, Lightning Protection Study, Single Line Diagrams, Protection System Design, Protection Single Line Diagrams, AC and DC Schematics, AC and DC UPS Systems, ATS Systems, Energy Management and Power Management Systems, HV, MV AND LV Cables, Commissioning Experience, Substation, Switchgear and MCC design, CT and VT sizing Calculations, Battery Sizing Calculations, Cable Sizing Calculations and Insulation Coordination.
  • Answer Technical Queries and RFIs from contractors.
  • Participate in key design review and ensure design review readiness.
  • Monitor changes against baseline scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with an EPC.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Medium/large multi-discipline project lead experience preferred.
  • LNG Project experience preferred.
  • Experience in the design of Power Island facilities.
  • Experience in Power Systems and Power Studies.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards.
