About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer (JMR) position is a critical role within a growing cutting-edge technology company located in Springfield, NJ. This full-time, onsite position is focused on leading the electrical integration and automation of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and motion control systems into a PC system. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project delivery, which includes power system design, cabling design, instrumentation selection, installation, integration, data acquisition, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and programming, as well as the design of power and control distribution panels. The role requires a deep understanding of hardware design, including panels and cabling, as well as proficiency in PLC and motion controller programming. The Lead Electrical Engineer will also be tasked with selecting appropriate instrumentation for various projects. This position is not only technical but also managerial, as the candidate will have the opportunity to oversee a group of engineers in the future. The job entails a moderate amount of travel, estimated at 10-15% nationally, with 1-2 trips per year to Korea for installations. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC and process controls, particularly in integrating these systems with motion controls. Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical integration and automation of PLCs and motion control systems into a PC system.
  • Oversee all aspects of project delivery including power system design, cabling design, and instrumentation selection.
  • Manage installation and integration processes, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Design and program HMI systems for effective user interaction with control systems.
  • Design power and control distribution panels to meet project requirements.
  • Select appropriate instrumentation for various applications and projects.
  • Supervise installations, including potential travel for site visits and installations.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers as the team grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • 5+ years of experience with PLCs and process controls, particularly in integrating with motion controls.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design, including panels and cabling.
  • Proficiency in PLC and motion controller programming.
  • Experience with instrumentation selection and data acquisition.
