About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer - RF Engineer at L3Harris is responsible for the design and development of electrical and electronic systems, particularly focusing on microwave components and subsystems. This role involves managing complex engineering programs, leading multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the successful integration of products and systems. The engineer will also be involved in continuous improvement initiatives and will provide technical supervision and mentorship to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical/electronic design concepts and implement them into finished working designs.
  • Lead and support the assembly and integration of products/systems containing microwave components or subsystems.
  • Synthesize and define RF System designs for complex electro-optical solutions.
  • Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Design and develop microwave components, circuits, and subsystems for multidisciplinary product applications.
  • Develop test procedures and specify test equipment, providing technical assistance during testing of prototype and production hardware.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement plans for the EE team.
  • Conduct or coordinate system cascade analyses and trade studies, including complex design risk trade-off analysis.
  • Coordinate and lead design reviews of new or existing designs, preparing and presenting complex internal and external design reviews.
  • Provide technical supervision and training/mentoring to lower-level engineers.
  • Support Production Floor for system integration and testing.
  • Manage projects/processes with general supervision and regularly communicate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop production documentation and oversee the configuration management process.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Security Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and developing microwave components, circuits, and subsystems for multidisciplinary product applications.
  • 4+ years of experience leading complex EE programs, overseeing other EE efforts from a technical standpoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mixed signal Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and development experience, preferably with Mentor Graphics tools.
