In this role, you will function as a technical lead engineer on underground transmission line projects, focusing on the design and implementation of underground transmission lines, particularly utilizing trenchless installation methods. You will actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively. This position requires direct interaction with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, allowing you to build strong professional relationships and ensure project requirements are met. Additionally, you will be responsible for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of projects, as well as mentoring junior engineers to foster their professional development. The position is based in Tualatin, OR, and candidates are preferred to be located near the Portland/Vancouver metro area, although those willing to relocate may also be considered. The role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring you to commute to the office three times a week while working remotely for the remaining two days. As part of the Energy & Process business at Black & Veatch, you will be at the forefront of addressing clients' rapidly changing infrastructure needs in the generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of safe, reliable electric power. This includes a commitment to investing in renewable energy solutions to support a more sustainable future. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with engineering standards and Black & Veatch's quality program, preparing complex engineering deliverables, managing project budgets and schedules, and coordinating with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects. You will also be expected to assist in identifying key client interests and drivers, communicating these to project team members, and developing strategies to accommodate client needs. As a recognized technical specialist, you will leverage your in-depth knowledge of engineering processes and industry standards to design complete projects of moderate complexity within your assigned practice area.
