About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for conducting electrical engineering and design work for various facilities, including transit, industrial, and commercial structures. This role involves preparing design criteria documents, calculations, and specifications for electrical systems, as well as evaluating existing systems and providing technical recommendations. The engineer will also perform feasibility studies related to microgrid implementations and develop designs for solar photovoltaic systems, contributing to sustainability and resilience efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrical engineering and design work for transit, industrial, and commercial structures.
  • Prepare comprehensive design criteria documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems.
  • Travel to customer facilities to conduct surveys and represent the company professionally.
  • Evaluate existing facility electrical systems and provide technical recommendations to management and clients.
  • Perform feasibility studies related to microgrid and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) implementations.
  • Develop designs for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • Develop engineer's cost estimates for electrical systems.
  • Act as the engineer-of-record for design documents and reports covering electrical systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide support during construction activities.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, or Microstation, and strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Expertise in the application of the National Electrical Code.
  • Experience in facility surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, and construction support.
  • A Professional Engineering (P.E.) license with eligibility for reciprocity in other states is preferred.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
