About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer role is designed as the acting authority in the field of electrical engineering. This position involves applying advanced techniques and principles to planning, conducting, and coordinating a broad range of complex professional research, development, design, technology, manufacturing, or quality assignments. The Lead Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in influencing strategic planning for major technical projects or multiple projects of significant scope and complexity that have a substantial impact on the business. This role requires significant external leadership, including extensive customer and stakeholder interface, and the ability to advise and consult as a technical expert to other technical and administrative personnel to drive and implement both short and long-term projects. In this position, the Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for preparing comprehensive proposals, schedules, and cost estimates, and may set, modify, and/or negotiate schedule changes and dates. The role also involves leading, directing, influencing, or coordinating the work of a major project, program, product, or component, with responsibility for project objectives, completion dates, and technical specifications. The Lead Electrical Engineer will drive technical advances and innovation, as well as improvements in existing technologies to make substantial impacts. Staying current with relevant emerging technology and business trends is essential, as is using business knowledge to evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors. Additionally, this role includes leading, training, and mentoring all engineers within the electrical engineering family on various test processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Influence strategic planning for major technical projects or multiple projects of significant scope and complexity.
  • Provide significant external leadership including extensive customer and stakeholder interface.
  • Advise and consult as a technical expert to other technical and administrative personnel.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, schedules, and cost estimates; set, modify, and negotiate schedule changes and dates.

  • Stay current with relevant emerging technology and business trends.

  • Lead, train, and mentor all engineers within the electrical engineering family on various test processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management.
