About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of advanced space-based sensors. This position is not only technical but also managerial, requiring a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to lead a team of engineers effectively. The successful candidate will oversee the entire development process of hardware Electrical Engineering activities specifically tailored for space-related systems and sensors. This includes ensuring that all engineering tasks are completed on time and meet the required specifications and standards. In this role, the Lead Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems engineers, and project managers, to facilitate a seamless design process. The engineer will be responsible for developing and releasing trade studies that inform part and architecture decisions, ensuring that the best possible components and designs are selected for the projects. Additionally, the Lead Electrical Engineer will create comprehensive product documentation and technical reports that detail the design processes, decisions made, and the overall functionality of the systems developed. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as the Lead Electrical Engineer will be expected to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital hardware design, PCB technology, and RF components, along with a proven track record of managing engineering teams in a high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the design, development, and implementation of space-based sensors.
  • Manage the overall development of hardware Electrical Engineering activities for space-related systems and sensors.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate the design process.
  • Develop and release trade studies for part and architecture decisions.
  • Create product documentation and technical reports.

Requirements

  • Experience with managing a team of Electrical Engineers.
  • Experience with digital hardware design, PCB technology, and RF components.
  • Knowledge of high-speed communication bus design and layout techniques such as USB, PCIe, XFI, DDR.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 15+ years of prior relevant experience.
