About the position

The Lead Electrical Engineer will oversee electrical engineering projects, ensuring successful completion of deliverables while meeting technical, quality, financial, and project control expectations. This role involves leading a team, coordinating multi-discipline interfaces, and providing technical oversight for electrical engineering activities, particularly in the context of nuclear power plants. The position requires a hybrid work schedule, with in-office work three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts performed by group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables.
  • Initiate and convey scope of work to group members.
  • Define deliverables such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and design changes.
  • Review status and track progress of group members to maintain project scope and budget.
  • Conduct routine status meetings and submit progress reports.
  • Track and resolve open items and emergent project issues.
  • Coordinate completion of project deliverables.
  • Lead the team for the detailed design phases of electrical engineering work, including interface and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
  • Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.
  • Provide technical oversight and supervision for all electrical engineering activities.
  • Prepare engineering design change packages to install, replace, or upgrade existing plant equipment.
  • Conduct engineering calculations in support of design change packages.
  • Prepare equipment procurement specifications and manage the bid review evaluation process.
  • Interface with clients to validate scope and ensure satisfaction.
  • Mentor and guide the development of the group.
  • Identify and follow up on client needs that may result in strategic opportunities.
  • Leverage client relationships to develop follow-on work from existing clients.
  • Prepare and coordinate multi-discipline proposals.

Requirements

  • A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Ten or more years' experience in the design of electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants.
  • Three or more years experience in leading an engineering design group through all phases of a project design.
  • Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, and preparation of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  • Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE Licensure is preferred.
