About the position

The Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer at Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of electronic trip units used in circuit breakers. This role involves leading hardware engineering projects from concept to production, collaborating with contract manufacturers, and addressing production and field issues. The position offers a hybrid work setup and requires a strong background in electronics design and embedded systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic trip units for circuit breakers.
  • Support resolution of field and production issues.
  • Enhance features and performance of existing products.
  • Validate design changes and cost reductions.
  • Lead hardware engineering projects from concept to production launch.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers and assist in production testing.
  • Create and maintain documentation for designs and processes.
  • Conduct formal design and quality reviews of work.
  • Test designs to meet quality and reliability goals.
  • Define requirements and track issues using tools like JAMA, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Plan work in detail and coordinate with the development team.
  • Train new engineers in design practices and Eaton processes.
  • Provide domain expertise to product support personnel.
  • Contribute to technical research and investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering or electronics experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience developing embedded electronics.
  • Experience with electronic circuit design and PCBA hardware development.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design and testing standards.
  • Experience designing products meeting UL safety requirements.
  • Experience with C and C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools like Jira and Confluence.
