About the position

The Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer at Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of electronic trip units used in circuit breakers. This role involves leading hardware engineering projects from concept to production, collaborating with contract manufacturers, and addressing production and field issues. The position requires a strong technical background in embedded design and offers opportunities for professional growth and training of new engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic trip units for circuit breakers.
  • Support resolution of field and production issues in collaboration with manufacturing and field service teams.
  • Create fully documented designs that are easily understood by others.
  • Conduct formal design and quality reviews of own and others' work.
  • Test designs to meet quality and reliability goals.
  • Develop expertise in embedded design and become a subject matter expert for trip unit functionality.
  • Perform requirement definition, issue tracking, and design collaboration using tools like JAMA, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Plan work in detail, creating robust and trackable plans coordinated with the development team.
  • Train new engineers in best design practices and Eaton processes.
  • Provide domain expertise to product support personnel to solve field issues.
  • Contribute to technical research and investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering or electronics experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience developing embedded electronics for at least 5 years.
  • Experience in electronic circuit design, PCBA hardware development, and firmware integration.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design and troubleshooting standards.
  • Experience designing products that meet UL safety requirements.
  • Experience with C and C++ programming languages.
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
