About the position

The Electromechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in the development of advanced avionics products within a world-class Integrated Product Development environment at Lockheed Martin. This position involves collaborating with senior engineers to create preliminary 3D concept models for space flight avionics hardware, ensuring compliance with various engineering analyses, and preparing documentation for fabrication and assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Support trade studies on electronic enclosure design approaches and provide technical data for design review documentation and presentations.
  • Coordinate with thermal, dynamic, stress, reliability, EMC, and survivability analyses to ensure compliant designs.
  • Support manufacturing and test disciplines in minimizing cycle time and resolving electronic packaging problems.
  • Establish specifications for contract assemblers and raw-material vendors.
  • Interface with Parts Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing regarding material quality and vendor performance.
  • Provide producible designs that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements within an Integrated Product Team environment.
  • Prepare all applicable drawings and documentation needed for the fabrication and assembly of the hardware designed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • 9+ years of professional experience; 7+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Full working knowledge and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with CAD design.
  • Experience in synthesizing requirements into electronic enclosure designs at different assembly levels.
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cable manufacturing processes (connectors, crimping, soldering, forming, testing).
  • Working knowledge of EPDM tools or equivalent.
  • Exposure to DFx Principles (Design for Affordability, Design for Manufacturability, etc.).
  • Experience with 3D printing/prototyping.
  • Experience with CREO CAD modeling and Zuken.
  • Missile/Aerospace related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with FBM specifications/procedures.
  • Familiarity and experience partnering with SP/SPF Customer Partners.
  • Experience with QNotes (SAP/ERP), PMP Database, FAST Items, DaSI, and FBM Web (Livelink).
  • Previous CPE and MRB experience.
  • Experience as a technical lead including resource planning and training, maintaining schedules, and ensuring technical performance.
  • Ability to communicate issues and additional resource needs to leadership.
  • Experience with subcontracted hardware suppliers.
  • Experience performing tolerance stack-ups.
  • Exposure to Requalification Activities including MORAs and Supplier Relocations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and with adjacent disciplines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
