The Lead Engineer - Electrical Rating at AVANGRID is a pivotal role responsible for the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the facility ratings databases and standard methodologies. This position ensures compliance with NERC FAC-008 and documents electric system upgrades to the Avangrid Transmission system. The engineer will review Ratings and Modeling (RAM) packages for accuracy and compliance with Avangrid standards and the requirements of Energy Reliability Organizations (EROs). This ensures that accurate facility ratings are documented and used as inputs to various databases and software utilized by operations, engineering, and planning disciplines across Avangrid. The role is crucial for maintaining current modeling information, which ultimately results in the safe and reliable operation and planning of the Avangrid transmission network. In addition to maintaining and improving Avangrid Rating Methodology standards, the engineer will verify that all network projects and system upgrades meet the RAM methodology, ensuring completeness and coordinating the package review and concurrence of stakeholders outlined in the Rating and Modeling approval process. The Lead Engineer will provide feedback, clarifications, and technical direction to RAM Initiators, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of and concur with changes to the electric system during the development of the RAM package. The role also involves facilitating the review and concurrence of the defined Avangrid stakeholders via electronic signature, maintaining updates to the RAM database and Thermal Ratings application, and ensuring that all changes to the Avangrid transmission network are accurately updated in relevant databases. The engineer will also propose improvements to Avangrid's rating calculation methodology and standards, taking the lead in implementing these changes. Participation or representation of the company in regulatory or public proceedings with EROs such as NERC, NPCC, and ISO is also a key responsibility. The position requires providing technical expertise on thermal ratings for new major equipment framework agreement contracts and offering technical advice to senior management when required.
