About the position

The Lead Engineer - Mechanical Component at Veolia North America is responsible for overseeing the engineering activities of assigned projects, focusing on the design, specification, and selection of industrial water treatment equipment. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure project feasibility, adherence to standards, and successful execution of engineering tasks related to water treatment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day engineering activities of assigned projects.
  • Design and specify industrial water treatment equipment and components such as pumps, heat exchangers, and valves.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals and specifications to establish project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Perform mechanical design tasks including sizing pumps and piping for optimal product quality and flow.
  • Lead integration of standard water treatment skids into a cohesive system with proper instrumentation.
  • Develop and review mechanical documentation including GA drawings and P&IDs.
  • Conduct site surveys to document equipment locations and system connections as needed.
  • Provide high-level reviews of electrical and control documentation to ensure design consistency.
  • Develop and release equipment BOMs to facilitate skid builds and system integration.
  • Manage document control and ensure compliance with Veolia standards.
  • Communicate with project teams and customers regarding technical details and project scope.
  • Monitor project budget and schedule, reporting any deviations to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in designing industrial water treatment systems.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in engineering software including Excel, AutoCAD, and ERP systems like SAP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with industrial scale water treatment system design including ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis.
  • Familiarity with Veolia WTS Mobile Fleet equipment.
  • Experience mentoring and training team members.
