About the position

The Computing and Networking (PCS) Network Products Lead Systems Engineer at GE Aerospace is responsible for defining, validating, and verifying systems technology for Networking Switch products. This role involves collaboration with various engineering disciplines to ensure the delivery of quality products that meet customer needs. The position allows for autonomy in executing systems activities while also leading internal research projects and supporting the adoption of Networking Products across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration to maximize performance and operability.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Defines product requirements for modules, components, and subcontractors.
  • Manages interfaces between components and execution organizations.
  • Defines CTQ/Risk trades within teams designing components.
  • Works within the configuration management system to ensure validated and stable products.
  • Investigates and defines new network technologies within the product line.
  • Interfaces with customers and suppliers on product needs using technical expertise.
  • Cross trains Systems Engineers on the Networking Product line's requirements and functionality.
  • Participates in product technical leadership, supporting reviews and development processes.
  • Ensures timely delivery of Networking Products' systems requirements and issue resolution.
  • Participates in the development of intellectual property to support the product line.
  • Collaborates with software, hardware, test, safety, reliability, and certification teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science or minimum 8 years' experience in a Systems Engineering capacity in design & development and/or technical project leadership within an engineering aerospace product development environment.
  • Systems Engineering Process Background.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience managing or designing within a product area.
  • Prior experience with network technologies and protocols common to aerospace or safety critical systems.
  • Experience in deterministic Ethernet protocols, particularly Time Sensitive Networking / IEEE 802.1 / IEEE 802.1AS.
  • Experience in working in CAMEO modelling and MBSE technology, tools, and processes.
  • Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, validation, verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, and system safety.
