About the position

The Lead Experience Designer at Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is responsible for creating meaningful and connected user experiences for electric vehicle buyers and owners. This role involves leading project teams in applying human-centered design methods to develop vehicle experience concepts that address user needs while ensuring business success. The designer will collaborate with various stakeholders to translate user insights into actionable design strategies and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead experience design project teams using design thinking methods to create vehicle experience concepts that solve for explicit and latent user needs while ensuring business success.
  • Ensure the human is at the center of all decisions by representing the user's voice on project teams, acting as an interpreter of their values, needs, and motivations.
  • Connect user insights to opportunities and solutions through design principles, journey maps, use case scenarios, jobs-to-be-done, and other strategy and design methods.
  • Clearly and persuasively communicate design recommendations to leaders and diverse stakeholders to create excitement and demonstrate the 'why' behind the experiences.
  • Bring concepts to life by collaborating with partner teams to complete key deliverables for product development process milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in Industrial Design, Human Factors, Research, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in the design, development, and launch of B2B or B2C facing physical products through human-centered design methods.
  • 2+ years leading teams.
