About the position

The Lead Explorer at the Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life is responsible for enhancing guest experiences by interacting with visitors, guiding exploration, and supporting team members. This part-time role involves supervising staff in the absence of management, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering a positive learning environment for guests of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Interact with visitors of all ages at the Museum of Ancient Life to ignite transformative family learning and guide exploration.
• Act as the main contact for team members in the absence of management to resolve guest complaints and other issues.
• Support the Thanksgiving Point mission, values, vision, and commitment to visitor experience and community engagement.
• Assist in training, mentoring, and developing team members for admissions and facilitation.
• Help management in day-to-day operations and ensure team members have the necessary tools to succeed.
• Follow systems and standards to achieve sales and membership goals.
• Participate in a culture of ongoing learning, collaboration, innovation, and creativity.
• Assist in keeping the gift shop organized and stocked.
• Exemplify Thanksgiving Point's Mission, Values, and Policies with compassion, confidence, and curiosity.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude with great guest service skills.
• Ability to make decisions independently and work effectively as a team member.
• Organized, reliable, kind, and professional at all times.
• Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 30lbs, and manipulate small objects.
• Fluent in English.
• One year of experience in a supervisory role.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a background check.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in customer service, hospitality, and/or youth leadership and museum experience preferred but not required.
